Development of the Canterbury Water Management Strategy involves an eighteen-month programme of stakeholder and public consultation, including numbers of stakeholder meetings, two public consultation opportunities, published drafts for submissions, final reports and website updates.

The programme has a number of key milestones

The first public consultation opportunity in October/November 2008 was about verifying, endorsing and building on work undertaken in the stakeholder phase. This will be followed by a major consultation exercise between April and June 2009 when people will make submissions on the draft strategy.
